My DIY Wedding

Hey guys,
So today I posted a video about WHY DIY? I have decided to DIY a lot of my wedding, decorations, invitations and just about everything. There are most definitely a few things you need to consider when deciding on DIY for your wedding or any other event you may be hosting.

The first thing to consider with DIY and the reason why most people turn to DIY is because of the bling bling, the $$. Most think that if they DIY their event it will be cheaper. I tend to disagree. Unless you do a really low budget, no frills DIY, you wont save any money. You need to consider the cost of materials, the cost of postage, or fuel to drive and collect the goods, the time it takes you to actually sit down and remove yourself from the everyday to sit down and create these pieces of art. If I wasn't who I am, a true creative that cant leave DIY or craft projects alone, I would most definitely have just purchased everything.

Another thing to consider is practicality. Do you have the time to make all these things for your wedding? I am just realising now with only 2 months until my wedding, that I may not actually get everything I want done in time.

One of the main reasons why I decided to do 90% DIY for my wedding was because of our wedding decorator. She has not been forth coming with cost and prices for her hire items or her base fee for setting up our venues. I am not one that appreciate surprises especially when it comes to money so to save myself I have decided to intervene and create or buy as much as I can for the wedding so that we aren't relying as heavily on her.

DIY does not just mean making everything yourself from scratch. I believe DIY is Do It Yourself. So if you are booking things, ordering things, organising things, that is also DIY. I have ordered a lot of things from Etsy. I am looking for a vintage glam, handmade feel to my wedding and although I haven't made some items myself, the look of that handmade touch will still be there.

I have so many projects to share with you over the next few weeks. Invitations, Bridesmaid dresses, lantern decoration, glittery mason jars, Etsy hauls and so much more!! I cant wait to share all my DIY wedding bits and pieces with you. Please go and subscribe to my Heynaedaily Channel to make sure you don't miss out on any videos along the way.

I hope this series will help inspire you to put a more handmade touch on your own wedding and to see that DIY isn't that hard and even the simplest of things can look stunning if done correctly.

Thanks so much guys,
See you next time
xoxo
